Nicholas Simpson is a dynamic tenor celebrated for his expressive artistry, warm timbre, and impressive versatility across opera, oratorio, concert repertoire, and solo recitals. Critics have lauded his voice for its “full-bodied, brightly projected” quality as well as its flexibility and expressive power.

A graduate of the University of Missouri, Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, and he earned his Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music. Since his formal training, he has swiftly developed an international career.

His operatic roles span a wide range, including Don José (Carmen), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Tannhäuser (Tannhäuser), Kronprinz Wilhelm (Silent Night), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos), and Almaviva (The Barber of Seville. Equally adept in concert works, he has performed as a soloist in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Handel’s Messiah, and Monteverdi’s Vespro della beata Vergine alongside the Connecticut Choral Society and Orchestra Nexus.

Among major recent highlights:

  • A memorable 2024–2025 season that took him across all seven continents, with solo performances aboard the Azamara Pursuit and Azamara Quest, including a tour of the Mediterranean.

His students have gone on to top music programs including Boston Conservatory, Northwestern, Mannes, Carnegie Mellon, Eastman, the Royal College of Music (London), and more—and have performed with prestigious festivals and organizations.
